The three pillars of stewardship: TimeTalentTreasure – provide the support that enables the parishioners of the Catholic Community of St. Pius X to serve God by serving one another.

Sharing of Time and Talent

The Catholic Community of St. Pius X parish shares its time and talent through many ministries that benefit its faith community and the community at large. Brief descriptions of parish organizations are under the Get Involved tab. You are encouraged to read through the descriptions to find one, or perhaps more than one, that interest you and that fit your talents and time constraints. Contact information is also provided.

Sharing of Treasure

The Catholic Community of St. Pius X parish shares it treasure in a variety of ways which include but are not limited to the following. Click on the links below for more detailed information:

Annual Stewardship Appeal

Each year, usually in the fall season, parishioners are asked to make a financial commitment to support the parish. These commitments are one of the tools used by the Finance Council to develop a budget for expenses such as salaries, fringe benefits, repairs, maintenance, materials, supplies, insurance and utilities. The revenue from these commitments provides not only for the above mentioned regular operating expenses but also subsidizes the parish school and Faith Formation programs.

Capital Campaign

In 2005 the Catholic Community of St. Pius X developed a Master Plan with input from its parishioners. The original plan called for the development of four major projects: a new Rectory to house our Pastor; a multi-purpose Parish Center to include parish offices and meeting spaces; new windows in primary wing classrooms; and a 24 hour Eucharistic Chapel.

Two of the plan objectives have been attained: the completion of the Rectory and the installation of new windows in the primary wing of the school. Additionally, air handlers were installed in the primary wing classrooms thus enhancing the effectiveness of the new windows. Additional benefits resulted: an improved teaching and learning environment and a reduction in heating and air conditioning expenses.

In conjunction with the Rectory project, long-needed sewer and drainage systems were implemented on the north and east sides of the parish campus.

Many generous parishioners have made and fulfilled their commitments to the campaign; others continue to complete their commitments. However, the economy and delay in development of the original plan gives the parish time to review the current situation with expanding needs and where to go to meet those needs. This is the challenge that is faced with growing needs and an aging facility as we realistically work to develop a master plan for now and the future.

Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal (CMAA)

The Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal is an annual fundraising effort that underwrites 75% of the diocesan budget. Parishioners are asked to make a pledge to the Appeal in the spring of each year. The funds raised through the Appeal are the major source of financial support used to underwrite the ministries and charities of the diocese.

Through this annual appeal, the diocese provides some level of oversight, training and administrative support to more than 2000 employees who work in our parishes, schools and diocesan agencies. Every parish in the diocese is expected to participate in this appeal.

E-Share (Electronic Giving)

E-Share is the Catholic Community of St. Pius X program that provides parishioners with the convenience of electronic funding of their contributions. They have the option of contributing to Holy Days, the Golden Touch Fund, the Catholic Education Fund and to the Capital Campaign through the program. To participate in E-Share all that is needed is to fill out one form, indicating the frequency, dollar amount and date to begin withdrawals. The next step is to attach a voided check or savings deposit slip to the form, depending on whether the contributions should be deducted from a checking or savings account. Or participants may elect to have their offering charged to their credit card account.

Participation in this program creates revenue consistency throughout the year and helps the parish meet its monthly expenses. It also saves time and effort on the part of the participant because it eliminates the need to write checks and fill out envelopes.

More than 200 parish households already make their offerings electronically through the convenience of E-Share. To participate in the E-Share program, download the E-Share Application form, fill it out and mail it to the attention of the Financial Assistant at the Parish Office, 1025 E. Madison Street, Lombard, IL 60148. It can also be dropped in the weekend collection basket. Contact the Financial Assistant at630-627-4526, ext.223 for additional information.

Golden Touch Fund

The Golden Touch funding program was established in 2001 to finance the cost of parish repair projects that are over and above what can be paid for through regular operating funds. Since that time generous parishioners of the Catholic Community of St. Pius X have funded expenditures, in whole or in part, for major projects including boiler replacement; new roofing on the Social Center and Jr. High Building; refurbishing of our church in 1998 (new lighting, repair and refinishing pews, interior painting; replacement of exterior doors); parking lot repair; improved landscaping; a new sound system; and improvements to the O’Neill and Wagner Room. The parish depends on this fund to help maintain its well-used aging parish facilities.

All parishioners are encouraged to participate in this program to the extent that they are able. No pledge or long term commitment is required – all that is asked is prayerful consideration about personal financial ability to contribute to this fund.

Donation envelopes are included with the regular collection envelopes. Contributions may also be made through the regular E-Share program which has a downloadable E-Share Application Form.

For additional information, please contact the Financial Assistant at the Parish Office at 630-627-4526, ext. 223.

The message of stewardship as a life of discipleship is central to the Eucharist and is engrained in scripture. According to early Church documents, the offertory collection is an important part of the Mass. The collection basket holds the gifts of the congregation, the fruits of their work.
