St. Pius Difference

At St. Pius X Parish School we recognize the challenges and choices parents face when making a decision on where to begin the education of their children. To assist you in your decision process, we ask that you please consider the following benefits and welcome you to contact us anytime for a personal tour of the facilities and for any additional information you may need.

Faith Based Education
First and foremost, our Roman Catholic faith is woven through the fabric of every school day - from daily prayer to religion classes to sacrament preparation.  Students in first through eighth grade attend an all-school Mass each week, with each classroom participating in a Mass at least twice each year.  Our students also attend Reconciliation sessions throughout the year.  Our 8th graders are designated the leaders of the student body and are encouraged to practice this leadership throughout the school year.

Student Mentors
At St. Pius, our older students work as mentors for the younger grades, ensuring a sense of responsibility and providing valuable learning opportunities for both groups.  For example, our eighth grade students are paired with the first grade classes for Mass attendance where they help their younger friends to learn how to be an active participant at church.

Student Focus
With an average class size of 20 to 22 students, your child can expect to receive personal attention from his or her teacher. St. Pius offers two classes at every grade level allowing your children to enjoy new friends each school year.

Our beautiful parish campus includes the church, the school and the Social Center (gymnasium), all of which are connected. We also have an on-site school library with a librarian, a computer laboratory, an art room and outdoor playground.

St. Pius X provides a learning continuim in technology education.  Students begin Technology class in kindergarten and receive instruction through 8th grade.  Each classroom has an LCD projector to assist in instruciton.  Most classrooms are equipped with a Smart Board and document camera, with all classrooms on target to have each by 2018.   IPad stations are available in grades K-3 and student laptops are available in individual classrooms in grades 4-8. Online tools such as Discovery Education, Grolier Online Encyclopedia and other digital tools are used to enhance instruction and learning.

Foreign Language
Classes in Spanish begin in third grade and continue through eighth grade. These classes are taught as part of the regular school day curriculum. Enrichment classes for eighth graders allow many of them to place into Spanish II in high school. We also offer an after school Spanish Club (for a fee) for students in preschool through second grade.

Fine Arts
Beginning in kindergarten, art is part of the curriculum.  We encourage students to express themselves while learning art history and a variety of mediums.  Students proudly showcase their artistic abilities at the Art Fair in the spring.  The St. Pius music program enables students to explore different genres of music and sound as well as various instruments.

Extracurricular Activities
Students can participate in a wide array of extracurricular activities at St. Pius.  There?s something for every student at St. Pius X Parish School.

School spirit runs high at St. Pius.  We are members of the DuPage County Parochial League.  Athletic participation begins in fifth grade with teams for boys and girls in volleyball, cross country, basketball and track and field.  We proudly follow a no-cut policy to ensure all students can participate.

Beyond athletics, students can participate in a wide array of other extracurricular activities including: Chess Club, Student Council,, Art Club, Spanish Club, Band and Choir. Homework Club is availabe for students in grades 4-8 to provide extra assistance for students.

Hot Lunch
Our convenient daily hot lunch program provides parents with the option of selecting from several healthly meal options as well as choice of beverages and additional healthy sides.  Parents can customize meal choices for each of their children for those who have food allergies, gluten issues or other health concerns. Lunches can be pre-ordered and pre-payed for on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

Service Projects
Our students learn how to serve God, others and the communities in which they live by participating in many service projects throughout the year. Some of these activities include field trips to Feed My Starving Children, food collections for the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry, collections for Toys for Tots, and so much more.

Awesome Christian Example (A.C.E.)
Students who display exceptional acts of generosity, kindness and leadership may receive an A.C.E. slip from a faculty or staff member.

Extended Care
St. Pius X Parish School is proud to offer our Extended Care Program to parents needing child care extending beyond our regular school hours.   We offer both before and after care to any St. Pius student enrolled in preschool through eighth grade in our full day program. Students in our half day program may utilize the before care program.
