St. Pius Difference
At St. Pius X Parish School we recognize the challenges and choices parents face when making a decision on where to begin the education of their children. To assist you in your decision process, we ask that you please consider the following benefits and welcome you to contact us anytime for a personal tour of the facilities and for any additional information you may need.
Faith Based Education
First and foremost, our Roman Catholic faith is woven through the fabric of every school day - from daily prayer to religion classes to sacrament preparation. Students in first through eighth grade attend an all-school Mass each week, with each classroom participating in a Mass at least twice each year. Our students also attend Reconciliation sessions throughout the year. Our 8th graders are designated the leaders of the student body and are encouraged to practice this leadership throughout the school year.
At St. Pius, our older students work as mentors for the younger grades, ensuring a sense of responsibility and providing valuable learning opportunities for both groups. For example, our eighth grade students are paired with the first grade classes for Mass attendance where they help their younger friends to learn how to be an active participant at church.
With an average class size of 20 to 22 students, your child can expect to receive personal attention from his or her teacher. St. Pius offers two classes at every grade level allowing your children to enjoy new friends each school year.
Our beautiful parish campus includes the church, the school and the Social Center (gymnasium), all of which are connected. We also have an on-site school library with a librarian, a computer laboratory, an art room and outdoor playground.
St. Pius X provides a learning continuim in technology education. Students begin Technology class in kindergarten and receive instruction through 8th grade. Each classroom has an LCD projector to assist in instruciton. Most classrooms are equipped with a Smart Board and document camera, with all classrooms on target to have each by 2018. IPad stations are available in grades K-3 and student laptops are available in individual classrooms in grades 4-8. Online tools such as Discovery Education, Grolier Online Encyclopedia and other digital tools are used to enhance instruction and learning.
Classes in Spanish begin in third grade and continue through eighth grade. These classes are taught as part of the regular school day curriculum. Enrichment classes for eighth graders allow many of them to place into Spanish II in high school. We also offer an after school Spanish Club (for a fee) for students in preschool through second grade.
Beginning in kindergarten, art is part of the curriculum. We encourage students to express themselves while learning art history and a variety of mediums. Students proudly showcase their artistic abilities at the Art Fair in the spring. The St. Pius music program enables students to explore different genres of music and sound as well as various instruments.
Students in third through eighth grade are able to join the drama club.
